February Food Fun

OK, I may really be stretching things…but right now, any cards I make have to be for a reason b/c I’m either behind in making what I need to or have certain ones in mind and am ahead of schedule!!  So in thinking of Janeen’s food challenge, I’ve been thinking of those gross (sorry if you like them…I can’t stand them…goes back to a Kindergarten experience that damaged me for life LOL!!!)  Marshmallow Peeps ever since I saw these bunnies over in the Silhouette store  (also inspired my a place setting card in the most recent PaperCrafts magazine)!  I bought them and made this cute, easy “Happy Spring” card to have in my stash for the blessedly hoped for season of spring!  Raided my kids pompom craft kit for the pink bunny tails.

Then I needed to make my cousin a birthday card.  Her birthday is today and the card will be late…  She loves sunflowers.  And well, I love sunflower seeds for snacking on!  See how it’s food related??  No, I know Janeen…you wanted more food as in food images I’m quite sure…but you’ll have to forgive my stretch of the imagination this time around!

And lastly, no more imagination needed, I made some real food to share with you…except, OH YES…you will need some more imagination.  Imagine that this cake does indeed have sugar in it.  Yesterday was not a good mojo day.  I really struggled to get anything done.  Finally felt like baking something and pound cake sounded reasonably appealing to my preggo mind.  As soon as it had cooled for a few minutes, I anxiously snuck a piece off the top and immediately went “Blech!”  Looked at the recipe to see what I forgot….should have known right off, I forgot the sugar.  Good grief.  But I rescued it…if you dollop enough Strawberry-Rhubarb jam on it, you’d never know.

So!  That’s all from me.  Thank you for stopping by and stretching your imagination with me.  Have a wonderful day!  LOL, leave a comment so I don’t have to imagine that you’ve visited me!!!!!!

WOYWW #195: Silhouette card

Today you see a peek at my computer desk up in our family room.  Yesterday morning I spent some time getting an image cut out and had issues.  As you can see from the little pile near the computer mouse (we have two…DH prefers the old style and I use the Apple slider!).  Had to get the Silhouette blade depth just right.  I really have issues with finer detailed images and I need to play with the machine a bit more.  I need to get this card made for my SIL today!  Her birthday was yesterday…..the belatedness of this card is no reflection on my love for her!!  None!

silhouette project

So I will work on that and few other cards today (there is a food card challenge I would really like to participate in!).  I’m taking today “off”.  Kids have a 2-hour delay this morning, but I’m sure they won’t have the whole day off!  I’m thankful to be a SAHM and especially now that I’m pregnant again.  I firmly believe in nurturing one’s body and giving it the rest it needs.  Thankful for a family that believes in that too and pitches in to help where needed.  DH was even going to help me fold laundry last evening.  I enjoy the laundry process and find it relaxing, so I didn’t need his help, but I’m thankful he is aware and asks!!  🙂  He takes care of bed-time duties so I can head to bed early.  Not that there is much to do with our two older kids, but the youngest of the two still enjoys a cuddle and some bible reading and prayer time with us.  And enjoy that too!  And heading to bed early isn’t so much b/c of being worn out, but just needing the down-time.  Most evenings, I have a feeling of ick in my stomach and it just seems to be my body’s way of making sure I take care of myself.  I don’t feel the baby kick when I’m up and about all day, and I’ve also read about the importance of laying on your left side so baby gets a good flow of blood and energy.  So early to bed gives me some quiet down time to focus on the baby within!  Sounds fro-fro and maybe not even necessary to some maybe, but it’s just the way I am.  I talk to “him” (we don’t know and won’t be finding out what gender we are having!) and reassure “him”!  I personally think our culture takes too lightly the care of our bodies, especially getting enough REST.  There, I’ll step off my soap-box, you didn’t come here to listen to that!!

Have a wonderful day!  I hope to report back tomorrow with some card-making success!!  March is birthday-filled month in our immediate and extended family.

Digital Project Life-Week 8

The Mom Creative

Wow, week 8 and so far I’m staying caught up!  An ordinary week’s spread this week, no extra inserts for a change.  Not that it was a boring week by any means, but just worked out to work everything into just the normal spread.

WEEK 8 for blog

I am linking up with The Mom Creative Project Life Tuesday.

Links to frequently used elements on my pages.  I will try and list the specific links to a post in red and the rest just leave in black for general purpose!  I don’t want this to be too labor intensive every week, but I do want to give credit where it’s due for sure!!

Life is always a count-down lately!

I feel like I’m never fully living in today LOL!  Not to say I’m not happy, content and thankful because I totlally AM, but I’m constantly counting down to something these days.  Way too much excitement.  And February always brings this.  Life just seems to pick up the pace as soon as February gets about mid-month.  I’ve always found if I don’t have my winter projects (scrapbooking, etc) well under way and almost complete, they don’t get done until next fall usually.)  March is already full of good (mostly…) stuff!                                  So time is going to fly.

countdowndaysIG

~16 more weeks of being pregnant -or- 112 more days -or- I’m 24 weeks today!

6 more days of February

26 days until spring

2 weeks to DD1’s birthday

3 dr. appointments with my dad this next week; then 1 week to a couple more appointments and possibly gall bladder surgery and then a new pacemaker put in….

3 more weeks until my next prenatal check-up/glucose test

4 more weeks until a possible ultrasound!

4 weeks until DH’s spring break

5 more weeks until the kid’s spring break

6 weeks until our spring church meetings

And so it goes!  It keeps me busy wondering what I shall anxiously count down to today!!

And then there are the questions that constantly bombard my mind!  Not really worries, just questions I’d love concrete answers to and likely never will!

I wonder how my labor and delivery will go this time around?  Last two were normal and nothing horrific.

I wonder when our birthing suite tour will be?

I wonder if my Dr. will be around?  He has been for the last two.

I wonder which nurses(s) will be on board for the big event?  I saw the one I had for DD2 and she is per diem as of now…keeping fingers crossed b/c she is absolutely AWESOME!

Was DH really as an awesome of a labor coach as I remember?  I’m sure he is, but you always wonder if you romanticized stuff!!  But I do know the nurse commented on our team work & deep connection so….I think it was all real and true!

I wonder if I’ll pass the 1 hr glucose test?  Should I get some exercise in before I go in?  After all, nobody drinks sugar like that and just sits around….

When can I start packing my hospital bag?  When can I tell the kid’s to pack their’s?

When can I evict the dolls out of the bassinet and set that up in our bedroom?

I wonder what we are having?????  Boy or girl???  🙂

We just had some company?  I wonder when they will come again?

When will we get our taxes done?

Off I go now!  Got that documented!!  No school today so we have plenty of fun stuff to be doing and then a fun evening planned eating out with friends.  Yea!  Getting out and about and being together with friends is so refreshing.

Thinking of you…perk up!

I ended up making two cards, one each for some dear friends who have both had their own health issues lately.  The husband was first, having his one shoulder replaced.  Then his wife came down with the flu, or so they thought.  Ended up being Appendicitis that went septic.  So she was in the hospital for several days.  They are both home and on the mend now, although I think the shoulder replacement will take longer to recover from.  Yikes!

Both cards were inspired by yesterday’s sketch challenge over at Splitcoast.

For her,

thinking of you today

For him,

Perk up soon

Thanks for stopping by!  I did end up getting the whole cleaned yesterday and lots of bedding wash done.  All done by lunch!  So I had the afternoon to putter.  🙂  Yea!

WOYWW #194: Project Life again

It’s been a busy week with company here, but yesterday I did get to spread out my Project Life work a bit and work on that for the afternoon.  Then had to pack it all up again so we could eat dinner.  Now this morning, company will be leaving and as a treat for myself, after I clean and remake beds, I will be sitting down to work on some more.  Look at that beautiful sunlight coming in!  It’s very cold out, but at least the sun is shining!

I’m joining in on Julia’s weekly blog link up party over at Stamping Ground.  What’s on your workdesk Wednesday!  I also have a thinking of you card that needs to made this afternoon to be delivered with some homemade chicken noodle soup either tonight if the folks are in bible study or tomorrow sometime while I’m out and about.  Need to look for a fun challenge to inspire me!

So wish me luck that my energy holds for all the day’s work today.  I need to get my kid’s room cleaned and bed linens all washed and remade.  And the house vacuumed and dusted.  A few days of not doing any of that and stuff starts accumulating.   So!  Off I go!  I really want some crafty time this afternoon.  Tomorrow my dad has a dr. appointment and I’ll likely have errands to run, so I really need some “me” time this afternoon.  It recharges me and keeps me from having a bad attitude about life at times.  Plus the kids have early release tomorrow and then Friday off.  We have fun plans for Friday evening, weather permitting.  Another storm brewing we hear, so we’ll see!

WWOYW, PL

And here’s a photo that’s been in my mind, inspiring me through the cold winter days.  Melissa posted a beautiful one too for Wordless Wednesday, and so I thought I’d share my winter inspiration too!!

May 17, bike ride, scenic view

It’s a view from a country road I take my bike rides on.  Coming up the hill you see these vibrant yellow flowers with the beautiful blue sky in the background.  Ahhh, warm blue-sky days.  They’ll be here again soon!  I likely won’t be riding my bike this spring with having a baby due in June.  Someone said there’s no reason I couldn’t…but wow, this is a major workout…BIG hills and I’ve not been working out like that and they say you shouldn’t start something new you haven’t been doing recently. So…I think I’ll wait on that exercise regime!  If it was just a ride through the park, no problem, but this is a major 12-15 mile bike ride on back country roads that are filled with various sized challenging hills LOL!

Have a great day!  Hope to be back tomorrow with my “Thinking of you” card!

This week’s insert,

(I just realized I never decorated this with digital papers/elements!  So I’ll be back later with an updated version of this insert.  With company here this week, and finding out about them coming when I was working on these layouts Saturday afternoon, you might guess I got a little distracted!)

And that’s all!  Busy week this week.  Company here for a few days, plus a doctor appointment with my dad.

Welcome little one…

A quick, easy card to send off with a little outfit for a sweet new baby!

FOR BABY

And that’s all for today!  I CASE’d from a baby boy card I’ve had in my stash forever.  And that may very well have been CASE’d at it’s original making too!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

Happy, happy day!  One of my favorite days!  I love to give my daughter’s and husband little gifts!

Here’s what they woke up to this morning!  The sayings were Pinterest inspired (of course!).  I went with packaged goodies this year.  I just didn’t feel like doing a whole bunch of baking.  Last year I went all out with heart shaped baked bacon and cinnamon rolls!  And we don’t normally buy brand name cereal or Poptarts, so these were all a treat in their own way!

And a photo of DH’s card that I made yesterday.  I wasn’t going to make him one, but after seeing Melissa’s card, I had to make him a bee card!  We have honey bees and so I thought the bee theme was fitting!  I ended up pretty much CASE’ing her coloring!  Thanks Melissa!!  Cute little bee image is a digi from 2CuteInk.

Hubby valentine

Have a wonderful day!  I’m off to take my dad to one of his heart doctors.  Fitting I guess for the day LOL!  Then we’ll have lunch together.  Not sure how themed I’ll get for dinner.  We are having brats and I would like to make a fresh cranberry salad.  Will have to see what else I can think of through the day.

WOYWW #193: Valentine’s preparation!

Some last minute efforts to pull things together!  I love doing this and was saving it for last, not really procrastinating, honest!!

This is what’s on my desk today!

WWOYW, valentine boxes

WWOYW, filled boxes

Filling Valentine Target $ spot mailboxes.  The kids pink and white ones are really stuffed (They each got a newborn onesie, one with a penguin on it & one with a monkey  for their dolls, a small pink bottle of baby lotion b/c they’ve been getting excited for that baby smell coming to our house soon, conversation hearts, gum, chocolate and some fun little paper clips I found at Studio Calico last time I ordered…penguin clips and cow clips)!  The one for DH isn’t quite so filled, but he has an extra gift on the outside…a lotion bar I made him this afternoon.  It’s scented, so I didn’t want the scent getting into his chocolate treats!!

WWOYW, lotion bar

I’ll be back tomorrow with Valentine greetings and the final display of all this plus a few more goodies.  All will be put out on the kitchen counter after everyone goes to bed tonight! 🙂  They love to wake up to come out and find their goodies!!
