Recalculating!!

I re-read this blog post with all my count-downs that were going through my head at that time!  Wow!  Time sure flew and here we are six weeks later and most of the items I was counting down to have happened.  Of course, I haven’t had the baby yet, so that continues to be a count-down LOL!  72 more days to be exact!  Exact to due date that would be.  We all know the date/hour/minute that labor starts has no exactness to it at. all.

So forgive the wordiness again (maybe today’s previous photo-rich post will make up for it!) but these posts are good for me.  And awesome to look back on to see progress and that you made it through…  DD1 does have a wonderful photo op she wants to do of my belly for her ABC scrapbook so that should be coming up soon as we need to get it taken so she can have the photo to scrapbook.

april countdown

February is LONG gone…thank goodness!!  And now April is here.

Spring has arrived…I think that’s completely safe to say now!

DD1 and DH’s birthdays are done, and now we countdown to DD2’s birthday in May.  41 more days!

Our anniversary is in 39 days.  Looking forward to a nice dinner out together!

Memorial Day is our next holiday off (two early releases though to tide us over at least) from school, 55 more days.  A yummy, fun potluck that weekend to look forward to.

Some of dad’s doctor appointments are over, but new ones have cropped up!

The dreaded glucose test is over and I passed!

The much-anticipated ultrasound is over and all is well!

Spring break is over and now we countdown to summer vacation!  65 more days as long as we don’t make-up any more snow days.  DH has even less than that…not sure when his last day of classes is.

Our special church meeting is this Sunday!  Joy!

Still haven’t toured the birthing suites, but that’s coming up around 36 weeks they tell me.  ~45 more days likely.

Still intimidated by the diaper bag & my hospital bag needing to be packed.  Still lots of time on that though!

Bassinet dolls still haven’t been evicted, but plenty of time for that to happen too!

Taxes are done.

We have five new baby chicks.  Red Star layer chicks, cute as can be!

We had company for Sunday lunch and it was wonderful!  A delicious ham dinner, complete with carrot cake for dessert!

And planned company for another Sunday!  Joy again!

SO!  That’s the count-down recalculation.

Those six weeks flew by, so I hope the next 10 1/2 weeks fly by too.  I think they will!

I’m doing more yoga stretching and visiting the chiropractor just to keep things in alignment and ready to GO!  I take my daily walks still.  No more really bad days, but still some icky days.  Certainly more tolerable than the really bad days I was having  No sleep issues yet.  Still not big on super sweet things (DH even offered to bring home some after-Easter clearance candy and I said no thanks…not for me anyway!).  Finally had cravings for my favorite dark chocolate mini bars again…that was a good sign to me and made my day!  I’ve also lost my appetite for the fast food and junk food cravings THANK GOODNESS!!  I take my vitamins and fish oil daily now with no problem, and I’m enjoying eating more whole foods.  Summer porridge with chia seeds as part of my daily breakfast.  A slew of benefits right there!  Salads for lunch.  I have my own water pitcher to monitor fluid intake.  Coffee still doesn’t appeal and right now I’m not even drinking any tea.  Weight gain is still going on the low side.  13 lbs right now.  Fine by me!  Some people tell me I’m really popping out, while others say I’m hardly looking 6 1/2 months preggo!  Gotta’ love all the comments that come in.  And they will just increase as you get more and more tidbits on how to speed up labor and the BIG DAY!  All in all, in my mind I summarize this as my own body getting ready.  Losing the junk food taste, wanting whole foods, drinking lots of water, and definitely getting some good Braxton Hicks contractions going on!  My intuition might be right that this baby will come earlier!!

It’s a sunny 37* day and I’m outta’ here for a walk now!

Happy day!

Randomness….

blog post, birthday flowers

And I’ll write it here in my “home” instead of on my Facebook wall.  That way if you want to read it,  you know where to find me, if you don’t, I don’t feel guilty taking up space on your wall!

Just noticed DD2’s winter coat lying on the floor.  She must have worn her spring coat today???  Didn’t even notice LOL!  She’s been enjoying playing outdoors as much as possible again!  I hear the continual bounce of the ball against the garage door.

Inspired by this blog post that I’m not alone in not being unhappy with my current photo taking and photos!  Her last few paragraphs echo my sentiments lately, and I think it’s for the very same reason…I have spring fever and am dying for SUNSHINE!  I am going to get the app she mentioned for my iPad photo taking which I’ve definitely been doing more of.  Got a few other inspiring articles to read and learn from that I got in a newsletter email this weekend.  I love exciting inspiration that hits the spot at the perfect time!

I have tons of cards to be making and really want to be making but….there are so many other fun things happening lately!  Such a quandary to be in LOL!  I didn’t even make one for DD this weekend.  She didn’t mind!

A yummy slice of birthday cake tasted so good this morning.

DD1 had some help blowing out her candles!  He was pretty awed by 14 candles to blow out!!  I get to babysit him and his sweet little baby sister 1 day this week and next.  They are the sweetest kiddos.

blog post, birthday help

I am sooooo pale.  So ready for some sunshine.  I don’t get overly tan, but definitely more color than I have now. I’m careful, yes, but I do get out there and soak up as much Vitamin D as I can.  Exercising, pool time, gardening.  Bring it on!

Trees are tapped, sap is flowing!  DH just taps a few trees for the fun of making our own syrup!

The fact that my husband cooked up a corn beef roast and some extra chicken breasts for me makes my heart pitter-patter all the more so.  He is a gem.  He even baked fresh rye bread for the Reuben sandwiches!  YUM!  He also bent over to pick something up speedy fast when I dropped it this weekend.  What a delight!  Bending over is taking more and more effort!

blog post, reuben

I’m getting mixed messages on the gender of this baby.  I’m carrying low (boy), the heart rate is high (girl), the Chinese calendar says boy, I feel miserable ALOT (girl).  Hmm, what else?  Those are the most obvious right now!!

I feel myself bonding more and more with the little one as heshe kicks more and more!

Geraniums are starting to bloom!  I’ll soon be planting my pots.  Hanging pots were just hung up at the greenhouse. It’s right on my walking route and so I’ve been checking it out every day.  Joy!!

And we’ve officially “sprung ahead” with the hour time change.  I set our bedroom clock ahead and promptly went to bed, 8:00 pm spring ahead time.  It felt wonderful!  Then I don’t feel the change so harshly.

Have a wonderful day!

#ME, a different take on “Currently…”

Inspired by Margie’s blog the other day, I’ll do a different take on my “Currently…” posts this week!

listening: to the wind howl outside.  Nasty day.

reading: pregnancy and birthing books

watching: LOL, I feel like all I do is watch time pass ever so slowly…

eating: not much appeals.  Weird.  But eating out does.  However, my budget isn’t up to the constant need for it, so I’m forcing myself to stay home and make my own.  Today it’s Tomato Bisque.  I’m wishing I had a can of Campbell’s, but I’m busy making my own right now.  I’ll have a grill cheese sandwich with it.

drinking: water and lots of hot tea

wearing: PJs most of the time.  Or comfy yoga pants with a comfy maternity top.  Flip flops on my feet most of the time at home.

feeling: a lack of mojo today.  It’s a cloudy Monday.  Meh.

weather: very windy, cloudy and cold.

wanting: Spring to arrive.  Wanting the sun to shine.  And much more….want, want, want…

needing: to just simply get busy.  Easier said than done somedays.  Email & facebook are both quiet today so not a whole lot of interaction going on.  Meh again.

thinking: After lunch, I’ll just wander down to my craft corner and see what happens!

enjoying: life in general.  But just so FULL of anticipation.  Need to enjoy today more.

Currently…

I love Bet’s posts and I should rename mine “Happiness” too.  She always has such a joyful outlook on life, and I so need to remember this when baby comes.  And even now, with baby within me.  I’ve been so moody of late.  Not liking that at all.  Especially when I start feeling like this baby is going to change. so. much. in our lives. And then DD1 reminds me that God sees we need change and that is why Baby Twinks has come to us.  Umm, yea. Whew, deep for a 13, almost 14 yr. old.  Oh my!!!

So….CURRENTLY

I’m enjoying hot bowls of chili.  So tasty.

I’m not enjoying spaghetti.  It. does. not. stay. down. ??  Too bad, b/c it’s such a quick, easy meal…

Enjoying Coke.  (and pizza and Cheetos…)  After I eat these things, I feel really good.  Like really good.  Energy abounds.  Am I about to have a child that will only eat hotdogs and chips or something?  Eeep.

It’s sunny.  I still really like sunny days and still really dislike cloudy days.

Mostly feel good.  A few days of ick still thrown in for good measure I guess.

Reserving a bunch of books on pregnancy and childbirth.  I find myself being a bit apprehensive with the thought of l&d this time around.  I’ve had two wonderful experiences, so  I really don’t expect this one to be any different.  I’m working on prepping my mind and body already for it.  I feel a bit more introverted as I do prepare…  DH is an awesome coach.  I know everything will be fine.  My body knows what to, I just have to relax, breathe and let it do it’s beautiful work.

I’m reading up on breastfeeding again.  Really looking forward to this blessing again.  It’s a wonderful part of motherhood.  I find myself daydreaming about it a lot lately.

I’m sleeping good still.  And resting during the day.  Feeling lots of baby kicks.  The girls and DH all felt a few kicks this weekend too!  DD1 said it gave her major “baby-itis”.  Yea, you and me both girl!  🙂

I daydream a lot.  Of giving birth, of our first glimpse, of that first cuddle, of the first feeding session, of my kids coming in to meet the baby, of the euphoric feeling after giving birth.  You get the idea…

wondering how much company we’ll have this weekend.  Could be just my BIL, but could also be two more for the weekend+.  I’m ready, just wondering!

Currently…

It’s well past time for a new “Currently…” post.  Time to talk about winter’s arrival, feeling good for the most part…I think, and all kinds of fun things!!

December 20, blizzard, clearing out the driveway, Philip

Currently…Yes!!  Winter arrived with a vengeance!  We were under winter storm warnings Wednesay evening  and a blizzard storm warning all day yesterday (even the university shut down as of Wednesday evening which was music to my ears because that makes DH stay home).  So…we’ve had two snow days in a row which has enabled us to begin Christmas break two days early!  Yippeee!!  Today the storm is over and the sun is shining brightly and showing off Mother Nature’s beautiful work.  Layers of drifted snow and fun snow formations.  Local storm reports vary on what landed on us,    10-13″!!  Hard to tell on our property b/c we got so much wind.  We have mile-high drifts in one place and grass showing in other places!

Currently…Yes!  I think I might be starting to feel better overall.  I’m starting my third day of feeling great.  More ambition and energy than I’ve had in months.  But we’ll see how Sunday through Tuesday go this next weeks…those have been my worst days for awhile now.  And we have company coming Monday for supper and the night, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I really am over the worst.  I’m 15 weeks today!

Project life goodness, puff corn recipe

Currently…going to make just one (I have two bags but will just make one and then get another bag to make a double batch next week for the holidays!) batch of Puff Corn today.  And this is why I love Project Life so much.  I was wondering where I had put the recipe I had jotted down on a red envelope (I remembered that much detail anyway!!) when I called my friend last year at this time for her delicious recipe.  Her’s is just simply the best.  Most Puff Corn has a harder caramel glaze on it, but her’s is a really soft, buttery coating more than glaze and it’s so addicting.  Anyway back to Project Life and what that has to do with this…that’s where I found the red envelope with the recipe…b/c that’s what PL allows me to do…tuck things (that would otherwise get stuffed in a drawer or even eventually thrown out) into my album right alongside my photos!  I’m very behind this year, but I’m really trying to be patient with myself.  I have not been myself after all.  NO ambition.  I’m still back in June with my PL album.  No photos printed off for July yet, but August and September are printed and waiting in a pile.  But my ambition is coming back…and so on to the next topic…

Currently…hoping to spend the day in the basement getting crafty.  DD1 has her ABC scrapbook for class to be working on.  DD2 loves to play school down there.  And I will work on catching up a tad on my PL album.  I’m going digital next year.  I’m a little sad about it (will miss the hands on paper crafting etc), but I just need to jump in and do it.  I can’t keep collecting 3-4 12×12 albums a year documenting life.  Warm fuzzies, I know…but, whew, they are big, bulky books and I’ll soon run out of space at this rate.  I’m taking a class over at JessicaSprague.com on how to do PL digitally, so I’m looking forward to that guidance!  I AM looking forward to doing the Baby edition traditionally though.  Will be waiting until the baby is born to order that so I know what colors to get!

chip cravings

Currently…craving Sour Cream & Onion potato chips and mini pizzas made quickly and easily on tortilla wraps!!  And I can drink water again without gagging.  Sugary things still don’t hold a huge appeal.

Currently…looking forward to lots of fun company coming this week.  Monday night, two for supper and the night.  Thursday my sister-in-law flies in for a week!!  Then that evening, our friends and their little 7 mo old come for a couple of nights and the company from Monday night will return for one more night ( no meal this time) with us.   I’ve arranged all the sleeping so that no beds need to be washed and remade during that week….! Christmas day we also hope to have a table full of friends and my dad.  And New Year’s Eve there is a party over at some older friend’s of ours.  Some of their kiddos and families will be home and they’ve invited lots of folks.  Should be a very fun evening together.

And with that, I really must get in gear.  Make some Puff Corn and head to the basement before it’s time to get lunch going.

Happy, happy holidays to all of you!

New Year’s Eve is about my most favorite time of the year.  I love to stay up late.  And staying up late with family and friends, eating and playing games is just FUN, FUN, FUN!

Currently…

So!  Let’s try that “Currently…” post again over here!  With photos!

Currently…loving this wonderful maternity skirt passed down from a friend.  I just might have to buy another one to give back to her b/c I have a feeling this one will be thread-bare by the time I’m done with it.  So cute with leggings and boots!!  No real baby bump yet, but it’s just so comfy I couldn’t resist wearing after trying it on!  My other skirts are getting snugger by the week.

Currently…happy to have found a lost school book waiting for us at the public library.  Now DD2 can check out the normal quota of 2 books instead of just 1 at her school library.
currently, lost book found

Currently…delighted with this cozy penguin blanket purchased for the baby!  Will be fun to have next winter.  A $5 deal!  Also thrilled to have the kid’s Secret Santa gifts ready to send in (in background of photo).

currently, penguin blanket and gifts

Currently…loving the colors in this little shopping bag I got today.  Also the blanket that may replace my old blankie that I’ve had for 18 years and is leaving black fuzzies everywhere it goes.  Thinking ahead to a stay in the hospital when the baby comes and not wanting black fuzzies all over the hospital room!  🙂

Currently, colors and blanket
Currently…excited to be have my nauseousness down to a level with which I can at least function.  It’s in the background and allows me to get a few things done most days.  This weekend I tackled one of the hall closets I wanted emptied out to prepare for easy closet over-flow when the girl’s start sharing a room again.  Then another hall closet needed decluttering and new storage solutions for extra pillows.  All set!
currently, new storage solutions Currently, empty closet

Currently…enjoying my Silhouette Cameo and getting a few projects done I wanted to do, one of which was this fun baby countdown sign for the front of the fridge. Today we are at 191 days!!

And this to solve who’s turn it is to empty the top or bottom dishwasher rack.  Top is very coveted!
